Mission
The mission of the Dare Education Foundation is to promote excellence in education in Dare County Schools through active partnership with the
community.
Dare County Schools’ students helped install the Outer Banks Totem sculpture as part of a DEF 21st Century Skills Grant awarded to Dare Master Gardener Volunteer Association. This intergenerational experience gave students a hands-on opportunity to work with world renowed sculpture artists. The Outer Banks Totem depicts the plants and animals indigenous to the Outer Banks and is part of the Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Garden at the Baum Center in Kill Devil Hills.
