Dr. Bill Daggett, is the President and Co-Founder of the International Center for Leadership in Education. On February 19th, Dr. Daggett will speak expertly about four mega-trends, including new and emerging technologies, globalization, changing demographics, and new generations in classrooms. Based on these trends, Dr. Daggett, and his colleagues, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, are calling us to action.
In his introduction on September 7, Dr. Daggett noted that the United States education system is the greatest in the world, because we are the only ones trying to meet the challenge of excellence and equity – with a good education available to every child being an important American value. At the same time, we must recognize that other countries are outpacing us in achievement because of their sheer numbers of students engaged in rigorous study. To get a better idea about the types of things Dr. Daggett will discuss, visit this site to read the December 18th 2006 Time Magazine cover story, "How To Bring Our Schools Out of the 20th Century".
Also on February 19th, Dr. Bill Daggett will address a group of over 700 local and regional educators at the Northeast North Carolina Regional Best Practice Network Conference hosted by Dare County Schools and sponsored by the Dare Education Foundation.
Notable, Dr. June Atkinson, North Carolina’s State Superintendent of Schools, will be in attendance at both the community breakfast and the day-long conference for educators.
